Definition Cystitis is the inflammation of the urinary bladder and it is the prototype of an urinary infection. Generally, germs reach the urinary bladder through the urethra (conduct through which urine is eliminated from the organism). In normal conditions, in urine and urinary conducts there are no germs capable of producing infection. It is more commonly seen in women as a consequence of some favoring factors. Among them the most significant is that the urethra is shorter, which allows the passage of microorganisms to the urinary bladder, specially during coitus. In men, on the other hand, the urethra is longer which, together with diverse substances produced in the prostate, avoid the passage of microorganisms. The most frequent agent involved is Escherichia Coli (80%), although it can also be caused by proteus and Klebsiella. |
Saturated fats can cause breast cancer because they increase estrogen levels in women. |
