Uncomfortable symptoms Menopause means, from a physiological point of view, the definite cease of menstruation. It signals the end of a woman’s fertile life, and the great hormone changes that accompany it provoke symptoms such as heat, sleep disorders, alterations in mood and anxiety, and also possible problems in areas such as the cardiovascular and bone systems. Women enters a gradual and progressive decline in the ovary’s function with a low estrogen level, which leads to the regression of secondary sexual characteristics and genital atrophy. However, she has access to a treatment capable of mitigating these symptoms and prevent pathologies. During this period also called perimenopause, she can begin a hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which consists of providing, through the intake of those hormones that the body is no longer producing. The treatment’s goal is decreasing the symptoms and complications due to a lack of estrogen. |
