Physical yoga

Hatha Yoga, a wonderful science with an origin lost in the memory of times, has acquired a great diffusion since the loss of mental and physical health and the pragmatic spirit of the Western man, full of anxieties and torn apart by the stress of modern life. Simply called Yoga in the West, this physical part of the ancient and sacred science of India is only the first step in the search of a very ambitious personal perfection. Despite being known as a technique for body health and mental relaxation, Hatha Yoga is really a preparation for the goal of an integral evolution.

Although its immediate effect is strengthening the body, freeing it from illness and thus providing a proper vehicle for the spiritual seeker, its goals go much beyond. For understanding them we should know the meaning of the Sanskrit word Yoga: union. The union of the individual being with the Superior Being, the Absolute, God. This is the goal of the Yoga science, which in addition to Hatha Yoga has other branches, according to the characteristics of each aspirant:
• Mantra Yoga or of sound,
• Bhakti Yoga or of devotion,
• Karma Yoga or of the perfect action,
• Raja Yoga which unites the most sublime of the other branches.

All yogis, however, know Hatha Yoga as the first step of a hard but wonderful discipline.
