Correct and reaffirm From proper tooth brushing depends not only the health of teeth and gums, but of the whole organism, since the mouth is the entrance door. Even when we have an excellent habit of regularly brushing our teeth we might not be obtaining all its benefits, because we have not learned how to do it properly, or how to handle, clean and store our toothbrush. We often hear about the need to teach children the habit of oral hygiene, but: do their parents know the right way to do it? For reviewing and correcting this basic hygiene practice we have consulted the experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of USA. Brushing teeth with toothpastes that contain fluoride is a simple method, highly recommended and practiced for oral care. When it is done regularly and appropriately, tooth brushing can reduce the amount of plaque that contains the bacteria associated with gingivitis and cavities, as well as provide the benefits of fluoride in the prevention of cavities. |
