Authentically from India

Lost in the annals of civilization, long before the Aryans invaded India with their culture and philosophy, Tantra flourished in the South of the India Peninsula: the most authentic Hindu wisdom.  A philosophy, a vision of the world and a religious attitude with direct implications on daily life… That is how the Dravidians developed it, natural to the region.  And that is how it still remains, despite thousands of years and cultural attacks from other groups.

Why does Tantra interest us today?  What does this ancestral philosophy and its practice, the Tantra Yoga technique, have to offer?  The interest of the West for this knowledge is based on the particular vision that Tantra has on the masculine, feminine and sexuality.  The whole universe is explained by this relation of the active and passive principles, hot and cold, feminine and masculine.  In the mystic union of these principles, reproduced on Earth by the maithuna, the sexual union between man and woman, is the realization of creation.

But be careful: tantrism, as the rest of India’s philosophy, has a primary objective which is undoubtedly spiritual.  Even when they use the tool of sexual pleasure (bhoga), tantric men and women are searching for something much higher: the total realization of the divine potential locked inside the human being.
