To play healthy Football soccer is a passion for many and one of the most popular sports in Latin America. Which man doesn’t sign up for a game the moment the ball and goals appear? Many fans of this sport practice it for the sheer joy of playing with friends. Practicing amateur soccer has health benefits but also risks for adult men. The sports doctor, Juan Carlos Mazza, General Secretary of the Argentina Sports Medicine Society, is blunt: for obtaining health benefits through the practice of amateur soccer it is necessary to start with a general check-up, maintain a proper diet and hydration and, above all, train two times a week. “Without physical preparation, there are no benefits. There is recreation, energy release and social activity, but as an activity of adaptation that improves biological qualities for preventing heart diseases or lower risk factors, none”, he states. For practicing this sport with all its benefits, after 30 years of age, the recommendation of the specialist is to consult a sports doctor, train, follow the nutrition and hydration guidelines and play a one hour game per week. “For playing ninety minutes or twice a week, there has to be a more specific evaluation and even more rigorous training”, Mazza adds.
