Another year of violence? As in every 8th of Match, humankind prepares to celebrate the International Women’s Day. At least part of that humankind. Another part of humans is too busy being violent to women in every stage of their life and through the most varied ways of action and speech, according to those who study the female situation in a dangerous and aggressive world. “Violence against women and girls enjoys impunity around the world”, remind us the Latin American Health and Women’s Center (CELSAM). And add that at least 1 in every 3 women around the world has been beaten, sexually abused or has suffered another type of abuse in her life. Girls, boys, teenagers and women have been an object of violence throughout history, in many cases validated by society and even by justice. “Currently, inner family violence is a private crime, which means the victim should report the aggression, overcoming the obstacles and threats of the aggressor”, explains Dr. Diana Galimberti, member of the Scientific Committee of CELSAM. But surely there are many women that can’t overcome those threats and their aggressions will be kept inside their home…and their personal experience will last a lifetime. |
Sexual violence and marriage: many marital relations are rape. Gender violence: social responses to a current problem. Teenage years are a stage of vulnerability and changes, when the parent’s role is transcendental. |
